Understanding

Today I am attracted by one quote and want to share here:
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."
-Marie Curie
Then I read about a product of Sun, named as Sun xVM Ops center. It is a tool that reduces datacenter management complexity by combining a range of lifecycle management functionality into an all-in-one tool. Customers can use the unified Sun xVM Ops Center tool to manage multi-platform x64 and SPARC systems distributed throughout their global datacenter and integrate with other existing toolsets. So it allows enterprises to streamline their data center operations, helping to lower costs and more easily manage rapid growth, data center consolidation and compliance requirements.

XML Parsing

When starting to learn about XML parsing I refered the following link http://java.sun.com/developer/Books/xmljava/ch03.pdf. There I came to know about Apache Xerces parser which is suitable for Java and C applications. The latest version of Apache Xerces is xerces-2_9_1. I have downloaded it from http://xml.apache.org. Simple API for XML(SAX) was also attached with this software. XML document is parsed with this. SAX has collection of classes and interfaces which is helpful in parsing with callbacks. So I tried a small sample program with this . Executed it successfully. I have to learn more in this. And now proceeding furhter examples in the above sun's link.

Android

Today I read about Android. Android is a Linux based cell phone platform.Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz on his blog said he would 'like Sun to be the first platform software company to commit to a complete developer environment around the platform, as we throw Sun's NetBeans developer platform for mobile devices behind the effort.' So I get little interest and want to know about Android, since the name is new to me. Then I refered the following website http://code.google.com/android/documentation.html. The whole information one can get from here.I get some information from this and sharing here. Like Java this Android also has development kit( Android SDK) and APIs.Applications are written using the Java programming language and run on Dalvik, a custom virtual machine designed for embedded use which runs on top of a Linux kernel.

SourceForge experience

Today I created an account in souceforge website. This website is really very helpful for developers. It consists of lot of completed projects. It is an opensource. So lot of new ideas can be implemented, as one's creativity. Each project with it's new release is given with documents and source code, screenshots and the requirements. So I looked at the projects list. There are different tyes of software categories like clustering, database, desktop, development, network and games were given there. I have an interest in games . So looked for the games and got one project called Arianne. I am studying about the project. So I'll get an idea after reading about the project. Tomorrow coming with new idea about the project.

Today I installed NetBeans6.0 Beta2. As it needs JDK1.6 I downloaded it and installed it. I tried small Java Applications in this environment. I give command line arguments and worked. This environment is good. For aptitude preperation I solved Logical sequence problems. I read one nice quotation in Google Reader that is

"Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. "

This is true in my life. When I lost the Job oppurtunities in the companies that I attended, I was distressed but I would think of the mistakes and prepared myself well. That helped me a lot to overcome all the barriers and achieved what I aimed.

Yesterday I downloaded NetBeans5.5.1 and installed in my system. I tried some small programs in Java and like the environment. Different projects like enterprise projects, Java application projects,XML and HTML.Documentation for default methods are generated automatically. I think to try HTML ,JSP programs in this environment. Just I got an idea to do a chat program in Java. I write a chat program in Java with DatagramSocket. Next I'll try to do a chat program with TCP/IP.

Today I have tried some logical problems in R.S.Agarwal verbal and non verbal reasoning book. I tried some mathmetical operations problems and blood relation problems. I read google reader. From Java developer's journal I came to know that there is a software called Leopard. It is a programming language featuring an integrated development environment for creating Windows applications. Leopard is designed to be easy to learn and it is especially aimed at users who have never programmed before. I have not heard this IDE before. I know about Netbeans which is also an IDE. Currently NetBeans5.0 is available. After a gap of one and a half year from the NetBeans5.0 release NetBeans6.0 is going to be released.I think to have a experience with these IDEs.

Infosys Test Experience

On 28th October I attended Infosys Off campus held at Anna University, Trichy.I downloaded the question pattern and got some idea while reading the candidates experience. The Logical questions are mostly asked in First part. Second part is English part.
In Logical reasoning R.S.Agarwal's Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning is enough. The questions were from the following chapters
1. Direction related problems(1-5)
2.Find the missing figure in the series(6-10)
3.Data Sufficiency(11-15)
4.Data Interpretation(15-20)
5.Decision making(20-25)
6.Vendiagram type Logical question(26-30)
I did the logical part very well. They time duration for Logical part is 40 min. I finished it by 32 min and I reviced the answers for the rest of the time. I have confidence in this part.

After 40 min they gave the next part ie English question. This section consists of 40 questions and the time limit is for 35 min. The questions are in the sequence like

2 very big passages followed by 5 questions each
The questions are in such a way that we have to read the passage , else we cant answer for the question.
Phrase questions
In these questions they will give one sentence underlined in some part of the sentence. For this underlined sentense we have to find the equivalent phrase.
Grammer Correction questions
Sentences with grammer errors should be corrected.
Conclusion of a paragraph
Five paragraphs are given and conclusion should be given.

I did the grammer correction and conclusion questions well. I dont have confidence in phrase questions and passage questions. I think, was slow in passage reading. I should read fast. Still I expected because I did well in Logical part. But I didnt clear it. The cutoff for the second part I might lost I think. I was disappointed when results were announced. Later when I think over it, I felt that I had a very good experience of attending alone. No one from our college attended. So me alone went . I met my UG friend there. She did her MCA in Trichy. Now I want to improve my reading speed. So I have decided to read articles and books more.

After get down from the bus I reached the main road.Leftside there is one traffic signal on the way should walk for 5min then one can reach the Collector's office. On the way to office there is X-man service is available for helping to fill the form. I went there. He helped me to fill the details. The documents required are

There is as option, one can put sign or put thumb impression in the first page.

These are the details I remember. The filled forms should be given to the collector's office. In the collector's office passport section is left side of the main building. The working hour of the office is 9am-1pm. Inside the office after the computer section there are two ladies in the table. The filled forms should be given to them. They will verify all the details given in the form with the originals. After checking the lady will put her sign. Then she aill ask as to give the form in the front. The form should be given to the first person in the computer section. Within 5min he'll call and give the receipt. All the procedure is over with this. The enquiry from the police office will be done within 20 days from the day. After that within two months passport will come to home address.

Today I have tried some puzzels and logical reasoning. In logical reasoning I solved Odd man out in diagrams , finding the next sequence and some basic grammer in English. In Infosys the highest cutoff is given to English section. The grammatical errors identifying questions will be given. So I just go through the Basic grammer. Still I have to prepare for phrase identifying section and comprehension in English section. In logical reasoning I have to study deduction, data interpretation.

Today I am very happy that I have done the Sudoku in Hindu. Most of the days I try to do the hard type of Sudoku. But I used to leave it without completing it. Today I completed it. I am doing solving problems in the Infosys previous question papers. Doing some exercises in Agarwal's Verbal nonverbal reasoning book. I solved data sufficiency type questions and seating arrangements questions.I like seating arrangement questions . It was very interesting. I am trying it with time limit. It takes more time(3-4 min) for me. I am finishing it but takes time. So I need practise. I plan to do it.

Today I read about a Java IDE IntelliJIDEA 7.0. This IDE has great performance and better usability. It has full coding assistance. It supports all webservices like Apache Axis,JAX RPC,JAXWS and XFire and dynamic languages like Ruby/JRuby. It provides visual Dependency Structured Matrix(DSM) for class dependencies analysis.DSM reflects the real dependencies between classes in a project, showing them sorted in a way that lets you get the overall picture at a glance. We can see a better debugger here.TestNG provides automatic unit testing. It has many new refactorings, coding inspections and quick fixes.

Today I read about XML. I have worked with HTML but dont know about XML. I read about it. I came to know that XML(EXtensible Markup Language), is designed to describe data.while HTML is used to design or decorate the content/data.One more difference is that in XML tags are not predefined.Customers can define their own tags. XML uses DTD(Document Type Description) to describe data. There is XML parser to manipulate the XML document.
The parser loads the document into the computer's memory. Once the document is loaded, its data can be manipulated using the DOM(Document Object Model). The DOM treats the XML document as a tree.

There are some differences between using XML parser in different browsers. But one can create cross browser scripts to work in different browsers. I have downloaded some XML sample programs and think to write small programs of mine.

Yesterday itself I thought to try a program to connect to a given Url. This idea came while reading about social bookmarking. I wrote a program to get connection with a URL in Java. Then I get the content of the URL and store them in a file. When the stored file is opened it has the content and all the links of the webpage and it will work. I now think to display the content of the URL without storing into a file. So I am going to try this.

I have not heard the website named del.icio.us, and dont know about it. So I searched it in the net. I found that it is a social bookmarking site. But I dont know about bookmarks. So I just read about bookmarks. Bookmark is a named location on a page that can be the target of a hyperlink.
In this social bookmarking system the users save links to webpages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, but depending on the service's features, may be saved privately. It can be shared only with specific people or groups, shared only inside certain networks. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, via a search engine, or even randomly. There are functionalities like favorities, links for the author to connect to other users, popular tags and recent bookmarks. I just registered in it and subscribed two tags for my favorites. And I analysed about this application. What are all the technologies can be involved to build such application?. I listed them, and still thinking regarding it.

Today I tried sudoku given in hindu and completed it. After a long gap I tried and completed it. I read google reader and I read about LRWP(Long Running Web Process). It is a protocol that is used by the web server to communicate with it's peers.LRWP implementation in Java using GlassFish was faster than the implementation in C and Xitami. There was a news about NetBeans IDE 6.0, the Visual Web tools, and Java Persistence API (JPA) give you greater flexibility for writing database-dependent applications.

Today I read about Ajax conference held at 24,25 th September. The conference focused on rich-web applications and development. After that i came to know about virtualization. Most of the enterprise are looking for maximising hardware utilization and reduce the time assosiated with the time management and managing individual physical systems.According to a survey made by Yankee group, today more than 60% of enterprises have implemented virtualization technology - and by the end of 2007 that figure is expected to increase to 90%. I read one more interesting information about Ajax that OpenAjaxHub 1.0 (OaaHub 1.0). OaaHub 1.0, an open source project under Apache V2 license, focuses on interoperability - it enables different Ajax components to inter-operate with each other using a 'pub/sub' mechanism while these Ajax components may have no knowledge of each other at all. OaaHub 1.0 is extremely small (6KB, uncompressed, and with comments) but it is powerful and extremely useful for building Ajax applications.

Today I read about twitter. com little deeply. Actually this provides a social networking service. It is also called as a micro-blogging service. This was developed by two developers Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone. During March 2006 the two developed the prototype model in two weeks. They used it with their team memebers. From August 2006 it is started as twitter.com.Cookies and routing technologies are involved in this application.

I collected details about twitter.com.It is a global community of friends and strangers. One can share their interests throw phone or web. Actually it is a social bookmarking site, where users can share their interesting sites. Each bookmark is created with tags. People add bookmarks on daily basis, for already known sites or for a new site. The first bookmark for Twitter.com was made on August 8, 2006.the name of the Twitter Developer is Alex Payne.
The tools invovled in this application would be some scrippting tools like XML,HTML .It also uses Jabber/XMPP to update the messages. Some Twitter APIs have also invovled in this application. The Twitter APIs have devloped in Ruby, which is a dynamic open source language.

I read about data mining. In which kind of databases and the techniques are used and the techniques used to mine the data in the database. I want to know which RDBMS is used now-a-days for datamining. So I refered it and found that SAS(Sequence Annotated Structure) is effectively used for datamining. While reading google talk came to know that Yahoo has launched Mash as a beta version in this weekend. It was interesting that each one can edit the profile of others.More importantly, one can create a new profile for somebody else and then inite them to 'claim' that profile and make it theirs.

11-09-07:Tue

I have solved problems in profit and loss. Did some C,C++ aptitude questions.I solved one TCS question paper. Google reader I saw about AJAX. I dont know about ajax. So I read about AJAX.
Today I read about java beans , servlets ,its life cycle and the advantages of using servlets than CGI(Commom Gateway Interfaces).I have solved some problems in profit and loss chapter. When I read google reader, I came to know that a column oriented database can be created and stores data vertically in table columns rather than in successive rows. Column-oriented databases minimize the time to read the disk, which can add up when executing large-scale calculations such as those typically done in a data warehouse.

Sunday

I started preparing for technical Questions in Java. Just read about final variables, final methods, final class and finalizer . Then studied about interfaces and inheritance. Have solved some analogical questions given in time's material.
